This super easy sugar cookie recipe comes out soft and chewy every time and are perfect for almost any occasion. When time is limited and you need something simple that is always a hit, this is the perfect cookie recipe to go to.
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup salted butter (softened)
- 1 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 350F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and baking powder and mix until evenly combined.
In a separate large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until smooth, then add the egg and vanilla. Gradually add in the dry ingredients until fully combined.
Roll rounded teaspoons of dough into balls and place on baking sheets, pressing the balls down slightly with your index finger. Bake 8-10 minutes or until golden, then allow to cool on baking sheet before transferring to wire racks.
Optional: roll balls of dough in sugar prior to baking or sprinkle additional sugar on after removing from the oven
